Gone to the Dogs, Inc. launches meet the breeds and microchip clinic days

Fairview Park, Ohio – October 4, 2002 – Gone to the Dogs, Inc in conjunction with The Purebred Dog Breeders and Fanciers Association (PDBFA) announces it will conduct a “meet the breeds” and micro-chip clinic days. The first of these events will be conducted at the Gone to the Dogs Salon in Fairview Park on Saturday, October 19, 2002 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This event will be offered once a month on a Saturday throughout the balance of 2002. A different breed will be featured each month on future scheduled events.

The event on October 19th will include a Cocker Spaniel breeder. This PDBFA member will bring a number of Cocker Spaniels to the salon and be available to speak with visitors about the breed. The microchip clinic will include a technician who works in conjunction with (PDBFA) to perform the micro chipping on participating dogs. Dogs may be pre-registered by filling out a form at the Salon prior to October 19th. Walk in registrations for the micro chipping will also be accepted the day of the event. Gone to the Dogs will conduct business as usual offering grooming, self-service dog bathing and retail items in the boutique in conjunction with the event.

About Micro chipping - Micro chipping ensures your dog will always leave home with his identification.  The Microchip used is so tiny that it fits through a hypodermic needle. Just like a vaccination, it’s injected under the skin of your pet where it remains safely for life. The cost for the micro chipping is $25 for the first dog and $20 per each additional family owned pet. Over 17,000 scanners, which read the chips, have already been distributed to veterinarians and shelters throughout the United States. Scanners are provided free of charge to any shelter that requests one.

About Meet the Breeds- Meet the breeds are an opportunity for Gone to the Dogs and (PDBFA) to introduce quality breeders as well as different breeds to the public. “ Our hopes are to create awareness of quality breeders out there so you don’t have to go to a puppy mill to get your next pet,” said Grano.  We want to create an educated buyer.

About PDBFA – The Purebred Dog Breeders and Fanciers Association is a non-profit organization of breeders, exhibitors, owners, and other interested persons concerned with the welfare, betterment and promotion of quality purebred dogs. The Association grew out of a meeting in January 1969 of breeders and dog fanciers who were alarmed at the mushrooming growth of problems resulting form “ super- market type selling of dogs.” Among the purposes of the organization are: to educate the general public regarding the value of purchasing a purebred dog from a reputable breeder; to establish ethical standards for breeding and selling dogs and an educated buyer, to encourage, support and sponsor humane dog legislation for the State of Ohio.
